Interview with Assassin

Since August 1998 when assassin Management became an international name, how do you consider the Success?

Assassin models working for the worlds most prestigious fashion titles, campaigns and designers, and the fact that international models request representation by the agency prove success.

Do you feel that operating in the UK, London offers any benefits from operating in places like New York or Paris?

The London fashion industry is an extremely fast-moving and cutting edge business – all these style centres offer different and exciting opportunities. The fashion industry is no longer just focused on one city at a time – models work on a global scale. At Assassin, we have models in Paris and NY.

What are the most important things you look at when considering a new model?

Personality, dedication and bone structure are possibly the most important qualities of a model – posture and poise are trainable.

What are some of the ways you find models?

Assassin bookers search for a model 24/7 – on the way to work, through worldwide scouting and we are approached direct – this is due to the editorial work our current models achieve.

So once you find a model you want to represent, are they usually required to sign a contract?

All models should have a contract – they are self-employed and this is an agreement between the model and the agency that their promotion and careers will be guided to the best possible degree.

What are some of the reasons you may not take someone on?

A wrong attitude is possibly the most common reason to refuse a potential model representation by Assassin. An incorrect look or height restrictions (all Assassin models have to be 5’8”) are other important reasons.

Do you feel that new models often have a lot to learn about the industry?

Modelling is a craft that has to be learnt. All new models go through an “apprenticeship” period, learning about themselves, their bodies and what the most flattering and advantageous image is to help them in their chosen career.

If you could offer models one piece of advice what would it be?

“Enjoy this experience, because there is opportunity for travel and a good life, but be dedicated as competition is high”.
