Vibrant colors are stepping into
the limelight as retro style continues to hold strong in Spring
2001 fashion. It's not just about the 80's anymore. This season
will bring about a fashion revolution that will pull inspiration
from the 20's, 50's, and 70's.
Models recently took to the runways
in the latest fashions, and they were adorned in many innovative
combinations of past styles. BCBG and Catherine Malandrino drew
their inspiration from the 1920's, an era characterized by its
relatively risque fashion designs. In the 1920's skirts were shortened
and neck lines dropped; Spring 2001 promises similarly revealing
lines in the world of women's fashion. Oscar de la Renta, Daryl
K, Pamela Dennis, and many others have brought back the ultra-mini
skirt. The knee length skirts that graced the catwalk only a couple
years back are being pushed aside for more daring designs. Ladies,
it's time to be bold. Demonstrate your personality with a new
wardrobe that is a testament to your self-confidence and outgoing
nature.
The Gucci men's collection brought
back the flared pant leg popularized in years past, and it stepped
away from traditional Gucci black and into a colorful Spring line.
Don't be surprised by the bold shades that will temporarily replace
the dark leather and fur that we were all wearing this Winter.
Even men's fashion is taking a turn towards a bright future. Traditional
black, blue, and white men's shirts are being replaced by more
vivid colors. Gucci's men strutted down the runway in bright red
and floral prints, which are reminiscent of 70's style.
